Born on the Fourth of July is a 1989 biographical war drama film directed by Oliver Stone, based on the autobiography of Ron Kovic (Tom Cruise), a Vietnam War veteran who became an anti-war activist. The film follows Ron from his childhood in Massapequa, New York, to his service in Vietnam, where he is paralyzed, to his return home, where he is disillusioned and becomes an activist.
