The Walking Dead Season 1
Overview
The Walking Dead Season 1 follows Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), a sheriff's deputy from King County, Georgia, who wakes up from a coma to find the world overrun by zombies, called "walkers." He searches for his wife Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) and son Carl (Chandler Riggs). He meets other survivors, including Glenn (Steven Yeun), a resourceful young man; Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), a redneck hunter; his brother Merle (Michael Rooker); and Andrea (Laurie Holden), a civil rights lawyer. The group takes shelter in a department store in Atlanta, then escapes to a camp outside the city. The first season is only six episodes, but it establishes the tone of the series: a tense, terrifying, and emotional horror drama. The season ends with the group discovering that Dr. Edwin Jenner (Noah Emery Jr.) at the CDC has a cure for the virus — but it fails, and the CDC explodes, forcing the group to flee.
